Final exams are conducted using exam papers developed by BMM Marathi Shala.
Expectations
Overall emphasis: 60% Oral communication & 40% Reading-Writing (each level has defined expectations).
BM1
To better prepare students for higher levels, MSMI Marathi Shala has added another level before Baal Varga, using the Bal Mitra 1 (BM1) curriculum developed by Austin Marathi Mandal. BM1 exams are developed and conducted by MSMI Marathi Shala.
Bal Bharati exam
An optional pilot program is run by BMM in collaboration with the Government of Maharashtra, which allows the students to appear for the Bal Bharati exam. This is the same exam given by students in Maharashtra who are taking Marathi as a second language in their school. Successful students are given a certificate by the Government of Maharashtra.
CCE
BMM uses a comprehensive continuous evaluation (CCE) methodology which considers several factors such as attendance, homework, class participation, participation in Shala events such as Diwali, Annual gathering, etc.
मराठी संभाषण
BMM emphasizes more on ‘conversation’ than ‘on reading and writing (60:40), thus it is important that a student communicates well in Marathi. The only way for parents to achieve this goal is by communicating with your kids in Marathi and encouraging them to communicate back in Marathi.
